This is a fantastic DIY project, especially if you're detail-oriented and enjoy hands-on work. Take your time watching the video tutorial—it really makes the process easier to understand. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll appreciate having control over the quality and precision of the stitching.
It took me about an hour and a half to finish. You will need to lift the center console slightly to tuck the excess material under the seams, which can be a bit tricky and requires some effort. Patience and attention to detail are key—if that’s not your style, this might not be the right project for you.
Instead of using the white thread that came with the steering wheel cover, I opted for a gray thread. I wanted something that would contrast and complement the white, rather than blending into it. The result gave it a more custom, standout look.
I’ll also confirm what another user mentioned: once the excess material is tucked under the center steering wheel console, it does make the buttons a bit harder to press. It’s something to keep in mind depending on your preference on how you want to interact with the buttons on your car.
